“Estudiantes’ rise in the community is a story of the power of sport and its ability to unite, not divide. Having served as the MP for Tottenham since 2000, and as someone who grew up in this part of town, I know how vital grassroots organisations are for local people. I have seen their importance time and time again. Not every child has the privilege of a secure family background where opportunities arise readily and networks are built with ease. Many grow up in hardship, many have to work for those connections, and many grow up without the right qualifications. Against a backdrop of austerity, a global pandemic and a cost-of-living crisis, the extent to which Estudiantes has served to bridge these gaps is remarkable. As a multi-sport, educational organisation, it offers our younger generation the chance not just to play, but to excel personally."
"I am immensely proud to see the continued growth and impact of Estudiantes in our borough. This remarkable organisation exemplifies the very best of community spirit—using sport as a powerful driver of educational achievement, inclusion, and opportunity. "
“Estudiantes are exceptional: combining the power of football and sport with high school attendance and educational success for Haringey’s children and young people. The club have won awards for their work and the impact of their work and are a homegrown success for schools to tap into”
"Our partnership with Estudiantes is designed to provide an opportunity for developing talented and gifted footballers in a supportive and specialist environment, whilst also qualifications. gaining academic and vocational qualifications. The partnership has also been key in enhancing an understanding and creating an increased culture of inclusion through football via the inclusion team, a fantastic example of a sustainable and inclusive pathway providing provide significant opportunities to inspire people to play the game, many who are giving team sports a go for the first time."
“Estudiantes London is a powerful example of what grassroots youth work can achieve when it’s rooted in community and driven by purpose. Through our Getting Active programme, they’ve created a welcoming, consistent space where young people can thrive through sport, contributing to their physical, academic, as well as social and emotional wellbeing. It’s clear that the team, led with passion and care by Darren, understands the vital role of trusted adults and long-term relationships in young people’s lives."
"Estudiantes continue to use sport plus education to provide their participants with a sense of normalcy and to equip, empower and enhance participants capabilities for not just survival, but more importantly prosperity."
"The Amateur FA are in awe of Estudiantes. Estudiantes use the power of football to improve the education and lives of students in Tottenham, providing a free programme of football and futsal to those young people who show a commitment to excellence in their education. "
"Estudiantes ignites passion for football, but it also opens doors to educational excellence, personal development and social mobility. The dedicated coaches and supportive environment empowers their young people to excel both on and off the field. Their recognition as 'Club of the Year' by the AFA for their social development work was very well earned and I'm confident we will continue to see more successes and even greater impact from Darren and his team over the coming years."
"As a valued member of London Youth since 2020, we have seen first-hand the great work of Estudiantes through a range of our work including our Getting Active Sports Development Programme as well as our CVC Summer Grants."
"Estudiantes have had another positive season in providing a football environment to help enrich the lives of young people in the Tottenham area. Offering a diverse football and futsal offer, the introduction of an inclusion team this year was a real testament to their efforts in providing a football experience for all. Alongside, their continued drive to upskill their participants with coaching and officiating qualifications, the club were worthy recipients of the Club of the Year award at the Amateur FA Recognition Awards."
"The work has generated positivity in the local area and is a model example of an LFA partner creating worthwhile social impacts within less privileged areas of London."
"I am very supportive of the important work Estudiantes do in the local community, using sport to encourage young people to excel in their education, I have observed that always education is mentioned as so important to the students at all their sporting events. I have seen how well behaved and polite young people from Estudiantes have been at various events, in the last three years. Including when Oxford and Cambridge Universities teams visited to take part in a wonderful three team football tournament that celebrated excellence in education and sport. Tottenham Hotspur were kind enough to support the event by allowing the tournament to take place at their training ground, this was achieved with my intervention, helped by the good relationship Estudiantes has with Tottenham Hotspur.
I am pleased to offer this reference for Estudiantes, even more so as they work with all ethnic groups and all abilities, to reiterate I really mean all ethnic groups and abilities"
